The Stunning Tiffany Blue Citizen Tsuyosa NJ0151-88M Review

The new Citizen Tsuyosa NJ0151-88M makes a bold first impression with its eye-catching Tiffany blue dial. As a more affordable alternative to luxury sports watches like the Rolex Oyster Perpetual and Patek Philippe Nautilus, this automatic timepiece packs plenty of style and value. Let’s take a closer look at the key features of this stylish everyday watch.

Sleek Case Design

Sporting a 40mm stainless steel case, the Citizen Tsuyosa sits nicely on most wrists. The mix of polished and brushed finishing gives it a refined look, although the highly reflective sides are prone to fingerprints.

With a 49.2mm lug-to-lug width and a reasonable 12mm thickness, it should slide easily under a dress shirt cuff. One issue is the small recessed crown at 4 o’clock, which makes hand-winding slightly difficult.

Striking Blue Dial

The star of the show is no doubt the icy Tiffany-style blue dial. Playing nicely under both indoor and outdoor light, it grabs attention with its bold colorway. Applied stainless steel indices and hands are bathed in luminescent paint for legibility in low light. A Cyclops magnifier sits over the date window for easy visibility.

The dial has a clean, minimal design with just the Citizen branding at 12 and Automatic text at 6 o’clock. An anti-reflective sapphire crystal covers the dial, providing excellent scratch resistance. Overall, the striking blue dial gives this Citizen a very fashionable look.

Comfortable Bracelet

The integrated bracelet starts at 22mm and tapers down to 18mm. It has solid end links that curve down to hug the case. The links use push pins for easy adjustability. The bracelet has a mix of brushed outer links and polished center links.

The clasp is signed and has 3 micro adjust holes but feels a bit flimsy. While comfortable on the wrist, an integrated bracelet means you’re limited to the steel option and you can’t swap it out for a leather or nylon strap.

Reliable Japanese Movement

Inside beats the Citizen 8210 caliber, a rugged Japanese automatic movement with 42 hours of power reserve and an accuracy of +/- 20 hours per day. It has a hand winding and hacking seconds capability. The caseback displays the decorated rotor and signed movement.

Room for Improvement

  • An integrated bracelet prevents easy changing to leather or rubber straps.
  • The small crown can be difficult to operate and the clasp feels a bit cheap.
  • We would prefer a higher 100m water resistance rating as well.

Affordable Luxury

With an MSRP of $500 but street prices around $300-400, the Citizen Tsuyosa NJ0151-88M offers affordable access to the luxury sports watch look. For the price, you get Japanese automatic movement reliability paired with a head-turning Tiffany blue style. If you’ve been longing for a timepiece with the iconic blue dial of Patek and Rolex but without the five-figure price tag, this Citizen delivers plenty of wrist presence.

The Perfect Casual Watch

For individuals looking for a watch to wear for both work and weekends, the Tsuyosa ticks all the boxes. The versatile 40mm case design slides under a dress cuff yet look equally at home with a t-shirt and jeans on the weekend. While not a dedicated sports watch, the 50m water resistance provides peace of mind for everyday activities. Spark up any casual outfit with the eye-catching icy blue dial.

In summary, the Citizen Tsuyosa brings together refined finishing, a bold Tiffany blue colorway, and reliable Japanese movement into a single stylish package. For shoppers seeking an affordable, everyday luxury sports watch, this automatic timepiece delivers plenty of wrist presence.

  1. Nice write-up! I’m very interested in this watch but wondering if it would work for small wrists? I’m always looking for watches that aren’t oversized. Appreciate any insight!

    1. Hi Jacob, thanks for the comment! This watch has a case diameter of 40mm and a lug-to-lug of 49.2mm approximately. So while not super small, it should work fine for average to smaller wrists in my opinion, and doesn’t wear oversized at all. Let me know if you have any other questions!
